Arena Park is a new urban oasis on the left bank of the Ob River

Arena Park is Novosibirsk’s newest green space, located at the foot of the Sibir Arena Ice Palace and the Oktyabrsky Bridge. It welcomed its first guests in December 2022, and by the summer of 2023, it had acquired its final appearance: the natural terrain of the Ob River bank has been carefully preserved, and the promenade areas have been modernized and comfortable. It’s a pleasant place to simply stroll, watch the sunset over the river, and spend active weekends with the whole family.

Architecture and location

The park covers over 18 hectares on the left bank. Paved and cobbled paths run along the main axes, with benches and neat lighting around the perimeter. Around 19,000 young trees, shrubs, and flowers have been added to the existing plantings, ensuring the Arena quickly becomes greener and more welcoming with each season.
The main entrance faces the façade of the ice palace, easily recognizable by its art installations: the spherical “dome” gazebo and the “Northern Lights” installation are particularly striking in the evening. A map with zoning and directions is displayed at the entrance.

Infrastructure and things to do

Arena Park combines quiet viewing areas and large active zones:

  • Visitor center and rental : bicycles, scooters (for adults and children), roller skates, velomobiles, and electric scooters. Approximate cost: 200–600 ₽/hour with a minimum rental period of 1 hour; a deposit (passport, phone number, or keys) is usually required.
  • Sports : workout complexes, 6 volleyball courts and 1 basketball court , running loops, bike paths.
  • The skate park and pump track is one of the largest in Siberia, with a multi-tiered spectator bench nearby.
  • Children’s areas : several playgrounds with carousels, swings, rope “webs” and rope climbing structures of unusual shapes.
  • A viewing point on a natural elevation offers excellent views of the Sibir Arena, the metro bridge, and panoramas of the right bank.
  • Food and amenities : kiosks and coffee vans with drinks, sandwiches, and pastries; free toilets in the administration building and near the car parks.

Рельеф парка — «террасный». Прогулочные дорожки подняты над поймой, чтобы комфортно гулять круглый год, а «дикая» зелень и низины сохранены для природного ощущения берега.

Events and holidays

Immediately after its opening, the Arena became a venue for city festivals:

  • VK FEST — music, dance, master classes, and sports.
  • ArenaFest for City Day and Youth Day – stages for music, dance, cinema, graffiti, and bikes.
  • The “Vkratce” short film festival features screenings of works by Novosibirsk and Russian directors.
  • In winter, the park maintains Novosibirsk’s status as a festive capital: it features ice installations , a skating rink, snow sculpture festivals, and the birthday of the Snow Woman (a new city character and winter brand).
The city parks and social media publish up-to-date events.

Relaxing holiday with views of the Ob River

Beyond sports, the Arena is a great place for contemplation: shady alleys, scenic trails leading to the water, photo spots with natural stone and logical perspectives. From here, you can see the Oktyabrsky Bridge , the metro bridge , the right-bank neighborhoods, and, further afield, the line to Bugrinskaya Grove (plans include developing the coastal area and extending the promenade route).

Siberia Arena is nearby

Next door is the new multifunctional Ice Sports Palace, with a main arena seating approximately 10,500 spectators and a training rink inside a glass “crystal” in the colors of HC Sibir. The evening illumination is a special reason to stroll around. Match and concert schedules are published on the arena’s official websites (under “Tickets” and “Events”).

How to get there

The park’s address is 160 Nemirovich-Danchenko Street . Entrances are from the Sibir Arena side and from the Oktyabrsky Bridge side.

  • By car: Access roads are via Blukhera, Karl Marx, and Nemirovich-Danchenko streets, as well as from Oktyabrsky Bridge. There’s ample free parking under the bridge near the second entrance; parking is also available at the arena. On match/concert days, the arena is often full, so arrive a little early.
  • By public transportation: get off at the “Sportivnaya Metro Station” stop on the bridge (buses #5, 6, 28, 39, 44; trolleybuses #7, 8; minibuses #18, 63), then go down to the park. A metro station of the same name is planned nearby; check the status of its launch before your trip.
  • On foot/by bike: convenient approaches from the left-bank quarters, bicycle parking inside the park.

Good to know

  • During the season, rental shops and street food stalls operate; full-fledged restaurants are located in the surrounding areas.
  • The park often hosts environmental events (birdhouses, landscaping), themed jogging, and outdoor training.
  • The coastal strip is a promenade, not a beach; the waterfront offers excellent vantage points and photo opportunities.
