The Dolphin Oceanography Center is a marine wonder in the heart of Siberia

In the very center of Siberia, near the Novosibirsk Zoo, there is an amazing place where every guest can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the ocean. This is the year-round Center of Oceanography and Marine Biology “Dolphinia” – a unique dolphinarium and oceanarium that opened its doors in 2016. The space of more than 8,000 m² contains a water theater, exhibition halls, an underwater tunnel and many sea creatures – from sharks to belugas.

Performances and sea artists

The main attention of the audience is focused on the circus shows that take place in the 650-seat amphitheater hall. The performances feature Pacific bottlenose dolphins, polar belugas, sea lions, and also the real star of the stage — a pink walrus named Tika. The show is full of bright numbers, funny scenes and interesting facts about the world of the oceans. The audience is greeted by hosts dressed as a sea captain and the goddess Calypso, and sea creatures with Siberian names — Chemal, Aya, Ob, Biya, Katun — bring joy to children and adults.

The numbers with the participation of dolphins and belugas are accompanied not only by spectacular jumps and dances, but also by painting pictures, singing vocal trills and even physical exercises! Each pet of “Dolphinia” is an artist with character and his own special talent.

Conditions of keeping and care of animals

The Center has created habitats that are as close to natural conditions as possible: transparent domes provide natural lighting, and huge windows in the areas of keeping support the animals’ daily biorhythm. Specialists work here around the clock to monitor the health of the inhabitants, the quality of the water, and the temperature regime.

Each animal lives in an individual enclosure, has a personalized diet created by veterinarians, and receives care from trainers trained in Yalta. Only high-quality sea water is used, and the atmosphere is so favorable that the animals not only feel comfortable, but also form stable social bonds.

Underwater world and oceanarium

The lower level of Dolphinium houses a spacious oceanarium with an underwater tunnel and 30 marine aquariums. Here you can see more than 300 species of sea creatures: sharks, rays, moray eels, jellyfish, octopuses, coral fish and even rare Baikal seals. Some rooms create the effect of complete immersion – water surrounds the visitor from all sides, including the space above his head.

Of particular interest is the tactile fountain with “anglerfish” – fish that you can touch with your hands. For kids, this is a real adventure!

Swimming with dolphins

The center offers a unique service — swimming with dolphins. The program lasts 15 minutes, of which at least 5 minutes are contact with the animal in the water. Participation is possible both individually and in pairs. It is possible to invite an accompanying person for photo and video shooting.

Swimming is carried out under the supervision of trainers and veterinarians and does not harm the animals. All participants undergo preliminary instructions, and the contact with the dolphins itself becomes an unforgettable and safe experience.
